I have known one that purchased a license from the original owner, who never told the new owner it was really a leased one, and then all went crazy when trying to find out how to renew it. Another I know does the 1 time a year renewal and has no issues with it, but the site ran for it, does not really generate money, its a forum for all to just chatter, so I don't see the reason to purchase something when you have to pay that much out of pocket.
