Any sites for SMF plugins and mods?

Other forum systems such as VB seem to have a number of communities dedicated to mods and plugins, but i've yet to find much for SMF. A new forum I was planning to make was to use SMF, but that's only if I can find some mods for it. Any suggestions?

Thanks again.

Try these sites mate, there are more out there but these two are amongst the best.

The mod site run by SimpleMachines:
h**p://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/

SMF Hacks:
SMFHacks.com

Hope this helps. I've got other links to mod sites, but I find that most coders are tending to upload their stuff to these two sites.

I have issues with downloading anything from a non-original site, maybe its just me. I know that coders want to get their work out there, but I am always hesitant. Am I the only one here?

You are not the only one. I am very nervous about using none official mods, simply for the fear that they will mess up the software. There is always the risk of them being insecure too or containing code that you are unaware of.

I agree also, for the most part. If you have a pretty heavily trafficked forums and adding an untrusted mod.... well you better hope you backed up your forums!! The first thing I do when I want to test a mod or altering a file is test it on my local machine. That way if the mod is incompatible then you aren't gonna destroy your community. I have a complete LAMP setup for exactly that reason.

Exactly. We always ran a copy of the software, a test forum for this purpose. It wasn't any good to us to do it just locally as we needed to know whether or not users and the mods could still do what they needed, so we created a test forum with next to nothing on it first.

If that worked out ok we backed up and then did it.
