Forum Questions

Ok Im back.

I have a couple of questions...dont know where to post them.

Im using the default skin more or less for my forum. Does it look bad? I
read some things on here that people would think it was not professional. What you recomend doing to the look and layout of it?
http://www.havaneseforum.com

Second...
Someone said my title should be "forums" instead of "forum", does this really matter?

Third...( not sure if this is the kind of thing you cover here?)
When you click on a forum, and in the "New Posts" area also, I want it highlight all threads that have been posted to since I was there last. Mine seems to only highlight ones I have not read since they have been posted to. I want each time I am on to start that over and all new posted threads should be highlighted. Im confusing myself, does this make any sense.
He tried to describe this here:

Any advice on how to make my forum better?
Thanks!

Welcome back Melissa
As for using the default vbulletin skin, yes it doesn't look good if you are seeking to have a professional and more attractive forum. Especially that a lot of new forums are using this skin in the begining. So almost everybody of forum members knows that this is the default vBulletin skin.

As for the forum title, I think it's totally upto you, and using the word forum or forums doesn't matter, all that matters is that the forum name should represent the content in a way or another.

As for the third point, we don't cover this in our services but surely we can discuss it and I will try to see if I can find a solution for this new threads problem.

My advice is to use a more professional skin and logo for your forum and to optimize it for search engines

You always answer so fast!
I have loaded some other skins, but the default is the parent. If I delete it, my modifications wont work, right?

I like your sahl skin, but will I have to redo everything, like the gallery?
I have the people at Worth doing the logo contest, so that should not be long.
And Im trying to find out how to hit the search engines. Thanks for looking!

Thanks!
Melissa

Hello Melissa,
No I don't always answer questions that fast but I try to do so as long as I'm online

You don't have to delete any thing, you can change the default skin for your forum by any other skin through your admincp, here is how you do it:
1- Goto admincp, from the left side menu choose vBulletin options.
2- In the right panel open the scroll don menu and choose "Style & Language Settings".
3- In the option saying "Default Style" open the scroll down menu and choose any other skin to be your default one.

Anorher thing, if you want to install a new skin and keep all your current plugins running right, all you have to do is to add the Deault Skin as a parent for the new skin you are installing and by that, you will keep all your adons running.

That's it
