10 Post requirement for new members - Forums Help - vBulletin, IPB, phpBB, SMF skins and community

So I am looking around and see that a number of things arent available to me because my post count is below 10. Completely understandable. Am I relegated to posting something in the general forums until I reach the magic number? I don't think I would have anything meaningful to post and/or ask about until I could watch a flash tutorial, or play around with a skin.

Basicaly I am just wondering where I can browse and post until I hit 10 without talking about my hobbies or a movie that I liked.

You can hit the vb, phpbb and ipb sections if you are looking to talk about forums, only the downloads are is closed for posting till you have the 10 posts

I got a question.... why do you think the users should have more than 10 posts? I think it´s not so a good idea, because then some people will spam or do other things...

i agree with this.
You got those n00bs which will flood for sure....
but anyway , what's the use of getting 10 post before you may acces or post reply's on the topics which require that?

Hello Dutch and welcome to Forums Help. The thing behind the 10 posts is because we offer skins that we design by ourselves and we offer them for free. I don't think that any other site offers this amount of unique free skins to it's visitors. We could have done it in a commercial way and it would have succeeded and we would have much more profit, but we aren't seeking for profit only, as we care to have a huge and active forum as well.
At the begining there was no 10 posts requirment, and all what we had by that time is users registering for downloading stuff and leave without saying a word, that happened with almost 90% of the forum members by that time. That's why we add this 10 posts requirment to keep the forum active and I think that 10 posts is not a hard requirment regarding hours spent on designing skins.
As for the spam, we are doing our best to limit it, and as for spammers, we are not the ones losing, it's them who are losing because they receive a permenant ban and without any warnings in most of the cases.
Yes we care to have an active forum but we also care to have good members, who are seeking help and ready to offer help for others. Simply we care for the quality of this forum

the only difference between that and some1 who registered now is:
first you have accounts which registered for downloading .
now you still have desame thing only people make 10 posts and become inactive.

ps: coca cola is better then pepsi

Yes we do but at least we have 10 posts out of the inactive members which is better than getting nothing in return
