Backups

Hi,

are you guys using online backup systems, or do you rely on your hosting company to provide backups of your forums and databases?

Forget my site, that is backed up, but my machine was almost a complete mess today, wasn't sure if it was on its last leg or not.

You should always back your own stuff up. Some hosting companies charge you for their copies. It's also just wise administration on your part in case you mess something up. Or if you have to move suddenly, what if the server dies and the hosting company can't recover your stuff? You never know what could happen. BACK UP YOUR STUFF!!

Sometimes I forget, but I usually try to backup my site a few times a week, and anytime after something important happens.

It just makes sense to me that you would want to make back ups on a regular basis. Seems like it's always a case of, if something bad can happen, it usually will. At least that's been my experience. Maybe I'm just unlucky though.

As with making backups to keep our files from any virus attacks in our computer system, it is also advisable to make a backup on our websites. We don't know when problems occur on the hosting sites and its hard to redo the things that you have done on your site.

With my previous sites that I've had, I also kept numerous backups, both on my computer and off of my computer.

For on my computer, I've had them in a My Documents folder that I've made for example, and for outside I'd put them on a large flash drive.

But yes, multiple backups in my opinion should always be made.

I agree with everyone has just said about making a backup with websites that we own. My question is how often do we need to make a backup?
