I think I have seen more full forums being sold just b/c someone cant get the help they need in running it, keeping it clear of spam and so on. I really don't think I could put that much work into a blog and sell it either, money would have to be really tight first.

I too think that a forum would be the most likely thing to be sold. A blog really is rather personal so unless it had a really common and sought after name (in which case you probably had a hard time getting it anyway) then I don't see the attraction for someone else to buy it.

Making a forum for selling is a good idea but making the forum active is not really that easy. People who do business online need sites, in this case a forum, that has lots of traffic and getting that traffic to a brand new forum is a challenge. But if you manage to do it then you can make big money out of forums.

I think you are right there! I think it would be hard to sell a forum for enough money to make it worth the work. Plus, by the time I had something like that saleable I would be too involved in the community to want to give it up!

When you have a successful forum, why not keep it and try to make a profit with ads and other methods? With Adsense and other ads, you should be able to make something if your forum is fairly busy.

Having a very active forum is good enough to give you a considerable amount of income. Advertisements, affiliates, adsense, and other ways for the forum to get income is already a good way to earn money. If you feel like you need to focus on other priorities, you can still sell it and would make a good money out of it.
