Hosting Hack
vHosting helps manage your hosting requests and upgrades. Originally designed for a "post to host" service vHosting can be set up for paid hosting.
This clip only shows the user requesting hosting for their first time http://xenweb.net/forums/hosting_new.htm This clip shows the user changing his hosting details http://xenweb.net/forums/hosting_change.htm This clip shows the user upgrading to a better hosting plan http://xenweb.net/forums/hosting_upgrade.htm Here are some screenshots. If the user does not have enough post he or she cannot request hosting The screenshot below represents a newly registered user with zero posts. Overview 1 If the user does have enough posts a link will be presented to them under the appropriate plan The screenshot below represents an user who has enough posts for the "Basic" plan. Overview 2 The screenshot below represents a user who has enough posts for the "Expanded" plan. Overview 3 If the user clicks the link "Request This Plan" he or she will be directed to a form Request Form If the form is left blank they'll get a message telling them to fill in all fields If the user enters anything other than letters or numbers then a message will tell them that they can only use letters or numbers. If the username is longer than 8 characters it'll show the user that the username cannot be longer than 8 characters. After the user has successfully submitted the form they'll see this on the overview Overview 4 In a private forum a new thread is created in a forum you specified through the ACP. New Request Thread Within said thread is the screenshot of the post below. password is randomly generated and inserted into a field in the user's database. If user forgets their password you can reset their password very easily. New Request Post If accepted the title of the thread will change aswell Hosting Accepted (Thread) A private message will be sent to the user who requested the hosting Hosting Accepted (PM) When the user goes back to the overview page they can change hosting details, such as their username or subdomain. Overview 5 When they click "Change account details" they'll be sent to a form Change Details Form I have changed my subdomain to "harmor.xenweb.net" to andrewharmor.xenweb.net but I left my username the same. Change Details (Post) If the user accumulates enough posts to match the next plan up they can upgrade to that plan Overview 5 When they click the "Upgrade to this plan" a new thread will be created automatically. The administrator still decides to either accept or decline the request. You can select which usergroups can request, upgrade, change datails, or view the list of hosted users. Usergroup Permissions ######################## Updated August 04, 2006 ######################## If you delete an user's hosting account details you can place the user into another usergroup. The user may be troublesome and you may need to keep an eye on him Move User to Usergroup Here are the administrator backend screen shots Hosting Options Add Plan Hosting Plan Listing ######################## Updated August 05, 2006 ######################## If you have chosen that an usergroup cannot request hosting the users in that usergroup will see "You are not permitted to request hosting" Not Permitted to Request Hosting The same applies to "Can Upgrade Hosting" and "Can Change Hosting Details". There are some screenshots I didn't include in the post. Go to the directory to view them http://xenweb.net/forums/hosting_hack_screenshots/ If you would looks at the date of the screenshots some date back to March 3 of this year. That means I've been coding this hack for 5 months ![]() Well I haven't been coding it for 5 months straight. I had the coding done a while ago, now I'm just adding more features. Right now I'm adding a function to change the user's usergroup after deleting their hosting account details.
On a page I list the members that have hosting with a link to delete their hosting account. After the member's details have been removed from the database you can choose to either move them to another usergroup that cannot request hosting. Screenshot |

I have a suggestion, why not add this hosting option in the registration form (because some users who have enough posts to have hosting, may not need this hosting) and by this there will be no wasted hosting spaces for users who qualify and don't need the hosting.
