Ip Tracer for VBullitin

I just started a vbullitin forum the other day and I want to have the ability to trace users IP. The forum is needed to have a certain level of security to it in order for it to be successful. I need to have the ability to check if a user is logged in from two different IPs, or if a suspect IP is being used.

Is there an add-on or hack that addresses this?

thanks in advance.

Craig

i guess there is already one feature in the vbulletin settings in Admin CP to check or block a user from accessing the site from a particular IP address or a range of IP address.....

My Mood:
What if the user does not have a static IP address, this means he would then be dynamic, therefore different IP addresses every time they log on.

Therefore tracking such IP addresses would not provide any security and banning an IP address everytime just gets boring.

Regards.

It would be far easier to ban by email address, just put in the email domain and problem sorted.

There are some IP tracking addons over at vbulletin.org.

But then again, the persistent spammer could create countless emails to use for forum username. I have seen this already in one forum wherein he always advertises his website of freebies. Almost every week, he got a new username and then posts the same kind of post with the link of his website.

There are several lists out there for emails to block. And there are some entire domains that are on that list. And pretty much all .ru email addresses are blocked for spam reasons on that list.
Sure its a pain to block an entire in case you block someone that is not a spammer, but better safe than sorry, imo.

maybe consider moderating the first few posts of new users. Or there are a few spam plugins/hacks that allow you to build a list of keywords and if anyone with les that (example 10 posts) puts any of the spam keywords into their post, their post will go into automatic moderator que. There are also hacks that allow you to retrict a new member from posting any sort of URL for a certain amount of posts.
