how to make skins???
Does anyone know a good website that teaches beginners how to make their own skins? I have a design in my head for my forum but I don't know how to go about it. I did a google search but it just confused me more. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

Well first of all, what forum software are you using?
The skin creation methods can vary a lot from system to system. Please provide us some additional information so we can be more helpful to you. I wish you luck, and i'll reply again once I know more about what your going for. |

In any possible script there are some somall tuts to make this.
In order to make a skin it's better to first start modding the default one .. to learn how to change some images, the css code and then a header or a footer. Start with smaller things and improve each day. Afterwards you'll get to the point you'll design a skin in Photoshop, slice, code the HTML tags and the copy-paste them into the appropriate place in the forum code. Sounds tough, but it's not ![]() |

I know a bit about coding CSS and I know how to use HTML codes. I don't know what kind of forum software I am using because it is provided by ProBoards.com. I have changed the default skin to the colors that I am thinking of using. I think the forum software is called ProVision.

Chatter - I agree.
I'd set up a test forum and start messing with the CSS coding first. Change some of the colors and see where it changes on your forum. That will given you an idea of how it is set up. Then if you have images you want to add, or backgrounds you want to change you'll hopefully be able to easily change the right section. It is much easier to modify than it is to create from new when you're not familiar with it. |
