How often do you see member profiles on Google though? If I were you, I'd leave the members for a while after the re-organization, then remove some who haven't been active in a long time.

I don't think we've weeded out usernames on our forum more than twice in two years. We have over a thousand members before clearing out and we only delete ones that haven't been on in a year or more or are permanently banned. But if a revamp were ever in the working we would keep them and hope they would come back after the new look/stuff was rolled out. Better to keep a couple usernames than annoy someone by making them sign back up if they decide to post. Plenty of people join a forum and never find the need to post.

Weeding out users is never a fun task, about as much fun as Spring Cleaning. You never know if someone just lost their password and email they signed up with, or lost their internet or what. Its always a pain. I would never try over 1000 users on a site to weed anyone out if they are not causing any trouble, seems like its more work than I have time for right now.

My idea is delete inactive memebers or warn them .. maybe lots better
