Before upgrading to vBulletin 3.6
Hello everybody
![]() I want to talk today about updating to vBulletin 3.6 , and how to determine whether it's good and suitable for you to upgrade your forum now or not. So as a start, here are some points that you have to take care of before upgrading your vBulletin: 1- Revise the differences between your current vBulletin version and the vb 3.6 and see if you really need these new features. 2- Revise the mods and hacks installed in your forum and if they are available to run on vb 3.6 3- Revise the skins currently installed on your forum and see if they are avaible for vb 3.6 Ok, if you revised all the above points and still want to upgrade, then here are the steps that you should take before upgrading: 1- Backup your current forum 2- Backup your current database 3- Notify forum members that the forum will not be availble for some time (the upgrade will take less than 15 min but always give yourself some extra time, let's say that you should tell them that the forum will not be available for 6 hours or so). After upgrading your forum, here are some extra points to do: 1- Check the forum functionality (move between threads, send PMs, check users options and the registration process). 2- Check the forum admincp (check the options functionality). 3- Check the skin used and the layout for problems or missing pics. After you are done with all that, you should re-open your forum and ask users to report any bugs or problems they faced and that's all ![]() |
