Moderations

This might sound kind of dumb, but right now I am helping a friend on a VB forum, that has not been updated in the past few, and I can not for the life of me find out what I am doing wrong:

Certain areas of the site make it so that posters have to be approved (the posts do) by an Admin or Mod, I can not find the setting for this.

It is probaly about 3 versions back, and I have never used VB before, any help would be awesome!

You can't find the setting to turn off the required approval or you can't find where to approve them?

To turn moderation off and on you'll edit the usergroup settings and find the part that says something like "this group can follow the rules" or something like that. It has a bit by it that says if checked/unchecked posts will be placed in moderation.

If you can't find where to approve the posts you should be able to do it directly in the post or in the control panel where it says "moderation"

It wasn't in anything like "this group can follow the rules", sadly it took me a couple of days to find the thing, and it ended up being that the last person to help with the site, screwed up every possible permission there is for registered users, and all the extra user groups that were added in, AND - all the sub forum permissions too. Its always nice to learn a new piece of software once a tornado has gotten its hands on it.
