Not Working For Search Engine Optimization?

Is there anyone here who just works to build a decent site, and maintain it as such? Who tries to get in members, to keep content fresh, rather than employing Search Engine Optimization techniques? Can you have a successful site without SEO?

I ask because I am not good at it.....

I think that when doing it the 'genuine' way, then Search Engine Optimization comes along with it. This is the way I would do it, because then you can pretty much guarantee that your visitors are genuine rather than bots finding your forums through another site.

I agree; if your site is good, with fresh content then you do not have to worry about Search Engine Optimization. That will take care of itself. The tips and tricks that are employed always seemed a little shady to me anyway.

If you are not optimizing your site for search engines but have good content posted regularly on your site , it will take a wee bit longer to be picked up by search engines . That said , if your site has been on the www for some time then chances are that your pages are already listed for quality content in which case Search Engine Optimization won't matter all that much.

Search Engine Optimization isn't as important as the experts would like you to believe. Most of the on-page optimization dealing with keyword density , H1 tags or alt images contribute very little to SEO.

Whatever the algorithm of the search engines , most of the biggies credit original content and a some good hot links to the site. If your content is good ,chances are some good sites will surely backlink to your site and with that in place , I wouldn't worry about other Search Engine Optimization factors as long as new content keeps getting added.

I haven't had very much success, and I just don't have the money for Search Engine Optimization at this point.

If there is anything I can do to boost traffic without buying more, I would most certainly love to know.

Scholar Admin-I think that the most important thing possible has already been laid out here; you need to have regularly updated, unique, quality content on your site. It is this that will keep the search engines crawling your site.

Scholar Admin , even if you are not too keen on Search Engine Optimization , having a weekly newsletter from your site , allowing your traffic to register and having feeds of the posted content are other ways to keep the traffic coming back. In addition to that , you could always try free advertising.
