What is VBseo? - Forums Help - vBulletin, IPB, phpBB, SMF skins and community

Can someone explain this to me in layman terms. And why would I have it on my forums.

Personally I am not the one who installs all the hacks and works on VB at my site. I find it very confusing. But I do know how to use admin panel and am very good at managing a Forum.

Your knowledge would be apreciated.

VB Search Engine Optimization is a search engine optomisation tool. It helps your forum gain traffic basically. My director knows more about it.(ForumsHelp is his name). Hope that helped.

I own a couple of sites both currently not online becuase my server guy screwed me so I am scrambling to learn things and get VB up and running again at both locations.

Anyways one site is open to anyone and the other is private, by invite only. How would this help my sites??

Thanks Adam for the explanation and just want to add few more points.
Simply any Search Engine Optimization tool tries to help you to get a better ranking on search engines for a certain keyword or key phrase.
For example, let's say that you want to get ranked as no.1 for the keyword "hosting" so everybody search for this word on search engines, your site will appear as the first result. There are manual and automated ways to optimize your site in order to rank better on search engines, an Search Engine Optimization tools are the automated and the more easy way to do so. And if you have a good rank on the search engines like Google & Yahoo, then you will probably receive much more traffic.
So vBSEO optimize vbulletin sites to meet the standards of search engines in order to have a better ranking and more traffic.

Just for those wondering also, it takes a normal php/MySQL URL and makes it look like it's not dynamic data, by removing all the extra ?=& etc from the URL. Thus making the URL look static instead of dynamic. SE's like static content a LOT better then dynamic, and that's one of the major reason's for products like vBSEO. They also have other cool products like a sitemap generator and can add no follow rules to links so the spiders don't get side tracked when crawling you site.
