Banners In Threads - Forums Help - vBulletin, IPB, phpBB, SMF skins and community

I have seen on several other forums where there is a banner advert after the first post in the thread. How do I do that? And is it possible to put an ad elsewhere in the thread?

Hi Single Again,
You'll need to add code to the postbit from the AdminCP. Then you can add conditions with various options such as showing the ads after the 1st post, or only to guests after the 1st post, after 2nd post...whatever you decide. You just adjust the code by adding the conditions accordingly.

I had Adsense running after the 1st post and ended up removing it. For me it really got in the way, members didn't like it, and wasn't worth it revenue-wise. So far I've made the most money from running Adsense or banners at the top of the forum.

Is it really worth it for the pennies made with Adsense? Ad's at the top are far less annoying.

I really don't see it used for Adsense (worth the time taken to do it) but maybe for something else like maybe your hosting company had an affiliate program, if you advertise for them, they can cut you a deal or something. I have seen that work lots.
