Do you advertise on your forum?

As the title asks, do you advertise on your VB Forum? My friends do, but I haven't done so yet. I might try it sometime.

I have adsense in the footer, that is pretty much it. All my friends get free advertising in an advertising forum.

I have read that having adsense on the forum helps in getting the forum listed quicker in the search engines as the spiders crawl the page more often to read the content and match the ads thus listing even the deeper pages of the forum.Other than that, I feel advertising shouldn't be allowed in the main sections.Otherwise, it's like an open invitation to spammers.Allowing members to show their signatures is fine, but for advertising purposes there should be a separate section in the forum.

That is wonderful news about the adsense. I am going to be adding adsense to the footer as soon as I get a chance. Thanks for the wonderful info.

I think you are talking about adding adsense to the footer in your own forum.I am asking this because adsense has some pretty tough policies about promoting your adsense sites. We aren't allowed to show them on forums that run advertisements which are against adsense policies or sites that link to other sites that run advertisements against the policies. They sound a bit tough ,but it's perhaps necessary to win the confidence of their advertisers. So, just be sure that it's your own forum or a place that you know inside out.

Yeah I have Adsense on my forums. I put a lot of time and work into the forums, so I think it's fair that the members have to deal with a little ad box at the top in exchange.

A little advertising on the forums is okay ,in my opinion. There is nothing better than Adsense as it only shows contextual ads and members have more chances to be interested in them than manually selected ads. I have found that image ads work better than the text ads. The best spot is in between the posts so it catches the eye easily. As adsense doesn't allow more than three templates on a page ,you can't overdo it even if you want.

My forum has Adsense, but i'm hoping to add more types of advertisements within the near future.

Basically, any ads that aren't too intrustive or irritating to members are good to have. The more you have, the more potential revenue and traffic.
