Mazin, there is a tool that is provided at vbulletin.com that is called Impex. You have to buy the vBulletin license inorder to be able to use this tool.
Impex conerts your current SMF database to vBulletin database but the only problem you are going to face is that Impex will not import current SMF users' passwords, so users will have to click on the "Forgot Your Password" button in order to create new passwords.

That is a great tool, I never knew of it and had a conversion sometime back and had to start over again. Luckly for me it was in the beginning of the life of the forum.

And there is no problems to the structure nor the flow of the messages with this import tool?

FH, is that possible to do with other types of forums - whether it's free or not (forum types, eg Invision)?

Yes, Invision is supported in Impex. This import program support a huge number of forum software. It can actually transfer over passwords from your old forum to vBulletin. This is really cool because impact your user less than having to reset all the passwords.

This is a great tool. We have used it on two different boards and it was a breeze.

As long as your paying attention to what you are doing, everything is smooth sailing....

Yeah, I've converted a few forums already, and all of them were working perfectly after the conversion.

You'd normally think that since there are so many tools out there that in a sense it would almost seem like they'd be competition, but there are people out there that know how to code things to be able to convert things from one program to another. It's amazing what technology can do nowadays isn't it?
