One advantage of using a newsletter instead of a mass emailing is that people see newsletters as having more value to them than an email. As long as the newsletter is informative and the information is of value to the reader. Often emails are seen as advertisements or attempts to get a certain response from the reader. Newsletters are seen as information sources.
An email would work to remind people of the site, but a good newsletter will probably rate higher in appeal. Thereby raising the opinion and value of the forum as well. |
