Are you using newsletters to your active members, or the ones that have opt'd for it to increase your marketing and community feel? And how are you using your newsletters to achieve this?

even i am wondering the same thing. I got this newsletter from forumshelp and would like to implement the same for my forum also....

anybody can help on this...any hacks available for this. ....

the newsletter we've began sending out here is called commbull. If you run a search you'll find it easily enough

Its a great way to reach all the members, alot of people join up then forget about the place and this helps bring them back.

Can you modify the layout of commbull? I like the newsletter, but for my needs I would like to include new articles and other information about the site. Also, is there a site that shows sample newsletters that I might get ideas from?

it is easily customizable through the admin panel. As far as other sites using it, I'm not sure...you might have to hit up google and search commbull to see

But for this can't you just do a mass email? Wouldn't that work just as well instead of downloading new content, and going through all of the extra stuff?

One advantage of using a newsletter instead of a mass emailing is that people see newsletters as having more value to them than an email. As long as the newsletter is informative and the information is of value to the reader. Often emails are seen as advertisements or attempts to get a certain response from the reader. Newsletters are seen as information sources.

An email would work to remind people of the site, but a good newsletter will probably rate higher in appeal. Thereby raising the opinion and value of the forum as well.

Do all forum softwares (the most common ones that is) have a newsletter feed, I have never used it. My users are either on the forums or not, they are lazy and don't like alot of emails.
