Who here uses the Paid Subscriptions of VB - Page 2 - Forums Help - vBulletin, IPB, phpBB, SMF skins and community

I have used it on a few forums. We used to run into problems where we had to actually go in and add the person to the *paid* area, but anymore it works just fine.
Most people are happy to just donate a lil to keep a board they like running, but it doesn't hurt to have an extra area for those that can/will donate a lil more.

I think if you can even give small perks for users that donate, it will get the ball rolling quicker. Most have no issue helping a site they truly enjoy being on.
