Fixed Skin? - Forums Help - vBulletin, IPB, phpBB, SMF skins and community

Ok well the forum width is 86% atm. On a 17" monitor the skin looks really wide. But on a 15" monitor it looks skinnier. How to i make it so that the actual forum is the same size but when viewed in a wider screen the BG expands?

Sorry to bump an old topic, but for who ever looking for the answer, you make the forum width a fixed number or pixels (like 780px etc.), and just have the background image repeat.
